- A scuba mask is used to protect your eyes from water while diving so you can keep them open.
- To see underwater properly, you need a clean mask lens, free of scratches and blemishes.
Rinse your scuba mask to remove any dirt or sand. Use clean, fresh water to prevent further abrasions to the mask.
Squeeze a small drop of toothpaste, about the size of a pea, onto the tip of your finger. Rub your finger all over the outside of the lens. Work the toothpaste into the lens in small, concentric circles.

Rinse off the toothpaste with clean water. Use your finger to help remove the paste.
Pat the mask dry with a towel and put it back in its protective case.
Keep toothpaste with your scuba gear so that if your mask is scratched during a dive, you can fix it right away.
Never place your mask face down on sand, wood or any other abrasive surfaces that may scratch it.
