Like children, pet cockatiels don’t always know the best thing for them. You can make them “seedaholics” by giving them food that is not full of fruits or vegetables. But they still need food to sustain the varied natural diets they are used to. You should continue to provide fresh food for your birds every day. It might take up to one year to change their diet.
Cockatiels love all year-round staple fruits, such as apples, bananas, and grapes. You will find seasonal fruits like nectarines and pears, as well as pears, strawberries, apricots, peaches, and pears. The best tropicals are papayas (mangos), guavas, and kiwi fruits. Cantaloupes and watermelon melons are very well-received. Although it may look like blood, the droppings of cherries can turn a dark brown color. Fruit is healthier than vegetables. It contains more sugar and water. However, citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruit provide Vitamin C. You can also use dried fruits such as raisins, prunes and cranberries, provided they’re not sulphured.

There are many other vegetable options, such as peas (runner beans), tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and corn on thob. Experts don’t recommend parsley, broccoli, spinach, and other vegetables that can interfere with calcium absorption. Although hot chiles don’t cause heat sickness in birds, they can still be enjoyed by humans. All fresh vegetables should be washed thoroughly before being cut into bite-sized pieces. To thaw frozen vegetables, let them cool completely. Make sure to cool the cooked vegetables after thawing. Canned vegetables have little to no nutrition value, other than calories.
You can offer plenty of greens like romaine and leaf lettuce as well as Swiss chard, watercress, mustard greens, and Swiss chard.

Cockatiels can be killed by alcohol, chocolate and avocado. The list also includes eggplant, cabbage and caffeine (tea, coffee), raw potato and milk and cream. Don’t give or permit pets to access any parts of houseplants.
Before you give it to your bird companions, make sure you check with either a qualified bird specialist or an experienced veterinarian in bird care. You should not include anything if it’s not OK.
