It’s been 5 weeks since the inception of the AMVCA 2014 campaign. A campaign that started by word of mouth quickly spiraled into social media platforms with Youtube videos, Instagram’s 15 sec videos, numerous tweets and Face-book posts as well as memes.

However the campaign has not just been hidden behind a computer, it has also run unsullied competitions such as the designer competition segment with This is Ess, where top 3 designer talents, competed on who would come up with the best design to dress the nominees. The entire process is being filmed and will be released to the public after the unveiling of the winning outfit which the nominees will don during the awards on March 8 in Lagos, Nigeria.

But that’s not enough; last Saturday (March the 1st) Spielworks Media hosted an exclusive gala party at the esteemed Shift Eye gallery in Hurlingham. The red carpet event lined up the who’s-who in the creative industry and turned out to be the perfect send off for Spielworks nominees to Lagos.

Coincidentally, the party fell hours before the historic Oscar win of Kenya’s new Hollywood star, Lupita Nyong’o. It was an ominous sign and perhaps an indicator of good things to come in Lagos during the AMVCA ‘s grand gala ceremony. We wish all the nominees the best.
